It is now confirmed that E3 2021 will be held for free between the 12th and the 15th of June with companies such as Xbox, Nintendo, Capcom, Take-Two, Warner Bros Ubisoft, Koch Media, and Konami backing the event and showcasing their upcoming titles.
It’s uncertain whether Sony or EA will be a part of the show but there is still time for them and other studios to sign up given how the event is just two months away.
While E3 2021 will be completely digital, the ESA plans to host next year’s event in person in Los Angeles, California. For more updates, visit their official website here.
Companies like Sony, Electronic Arts, Activision Blizzard, Sega, Bandai Namco, and Square Enix are absent right now. Sony and EA skipping out is nothing new, though, since both have hosted their own events for the last several years around or during E3’s dates.
E3 2021 will be online-only. The ESA will work with media outlets to “amplify and make this content available to everyone for free,” which gamesIndustry.biz says could result in “media-only days and streaming technology.”
