The Commonwealth Esports Championship 2022: 6-7 August

The inaugural Commonwealth Esports Championships and Commonwealth Esports Forum is coming up. The event will be taking place in August this year.

This is a huge deal for esports as a recognized, well-respected emerging industry. The huge event will cover a variety of esport video games and will feature different categories for each of these.

The event for the esports side will run alongside traditional sports. However, this may lead to lower viewerships but we will have to see comparisons between physical and digital sports.

The champions event is a partnership between the Global Esports Federation and the Commonwealth Games Federation. This was announced back in May 2020 and has been a developing partnership since then.

The event will take place in the International Convention Centre in Birmingham and will also be supported by the British Esports Association.

The dates for the event are the 6th to the 7th of August, and the Esports Championships will include live esport games from professional players across the Commonwealth.

There has not yet been a full list released of the games that will be played. However, we do know that Rocket League, Dota 2 and e-football will be in the pilot event in Birmingham. Also, there will be separate categories for women competitive players.
