Epic Esports Events has revealed its plans for the Epic League: Season 2 Dota 2 tournament. Set to begin on the 3rd of November and lasting until the 13th of December, the event currently features eight invited teams, each fighting for a share of a USD 500,000 prize pool.
To expand the number of teams participating, open qualifiers are set to begin on the 29th of October, bringing more competitors into the fray.
As it stands right now however, the teams invited are; Team Secret, Alliance, Team Liquid, Virtus Pro, Natus Vincere, OG, Nigma, and Vikin.GG. It has not been stated yet, as of which Virtus Pro line-up will be competing – it could be Virtus Pro, or VP.Prodigy.
Dota 2’s competitive scene has been having somewhat of a dry spell with the postponing of its crown jewel, The International, due to the Covid-19 outbreak. While League of Legends fans could make the best of their remaining competitive year with Worlds 2020, it has been up to the tournament organisers to host online tournaments to keep the scene active.
