Evo 2024 Breaks Records – Las Vegas in Mid-July

Evo (The Evolution Championship Series) – an annual fighting-game competition and a marquee event for the fighting-game community as a whole – has wrapped up registrations for 2024. And Evo has announced that it will be a record-breaking event with 10,224 unique participants involved. There will be several more total bracket entries (16,231) as some competitors look to be involved in multiple tournaments.

The unique participants is a record not just for Evo but for esports as a whole. Evo 2024 takes place July 19-21 at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.

While participant registration has ended, spectator passes are still available at the main Evo website.

10,224 unique players across 63 countries have signed up for at least one of Evo’s eight main competitions, according to the official release.

Evo 2024 will also mark the largest tournaments in franchise history for Tekken 8, Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising, and this year’s Throwback Series game, Street Fighter III: Third Strike. Other games represented in the Evo 2024 main lineup include Street Fighter 6, Mortal Kombat 1, Guilty Gear Strive, The King Of Fighters XV, and Under Night In-Birth II Sys:Celes.

The number of unique registrants for Evo 2024 is over 1,000 more than last year’s 9,182 entrants, with over 7,000 of those players registered for Street Fighter 6 alone. Evo 2023 also saw new gameplay trailers for the then-unreleased Tekken 8 and Mortal Kombat 1, as well as the reveal of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles collaboration with Street Fighter 6.

The world of competitive fighting esports has literally never been bigger. Not only are there a variety of titles available that support competitive action, but they are more popular than ever.
