Tournament organiser PGL has confirmed the news that Counter-Strike fans have been eagerly awaiting for months: the date of the next major. PGL just announced the next CS:GO Major in Stockholm, Sweden.
After Valve initially hoped to hold a 2020 Major in Brazil, the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic led to the cancellation of the Rio Major. CS:GO’s best will instead converge in Stockholm later this year.
Featuring the record breaking prize pool of USD 2 million, the Major will take place in Ericsson Globe, Stockholm, from the 23rd of October to the 7th of November. There are even plans for a live audience if the status of the pandemic will allow for it. PGL also promised to stream the Major in 4k and 60 FPS for audiences worldwide.
Further details, including ticketing and qualification, will be announced at a later stage. It remains to be seen if Valve will organise another round of Regional Major Ranking Events to determine the participants.
