G2 Esports pulled off one of the most impressive wins in LEC history on Sunday by taking down Fnatic 3-0 in the grand final to win the LEC Summer Split and to win their fourth LEC title in a row.
Before the match, Fnatic and G2 Esports were both joint with seven LoL titles, but with the win, G2 managed to inch ahead of its closest rival. G2 Esports now has eight LoL titles under its belt which cements its status as one of the best teams in the esport.
For the win, G2 Esports took home EUR 80,000. G2 are now the most successful team in European League of Legends history and will head into the World Championship as the number one seed from Europe. After reaching the final last year they will be looking to go one better and bring the Worlds trophy back to Europe.
The World Championship begins on the 25th of September with the finals concluding on the 31st of October.
