League of Legends Esports Partners With Spotify

The multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) League of Legends is the most popular and largest esport in the world. In addition to playing, a large amount of fans are also streaming. There is an official League of Legends soundtrack on Spotify, which has garnered a whopping 4.8 million listeners. This has fuelled the esports company and music provider to join forces and enter a multi-year partnership.

Riot Games has partnered with Spotify to make them the official streaming partner for League of Legends esports. It is based around three events; the annual Worlds Championship, All Start Events, and Mid-Season Invitationals.

Spotify is set to launch a new music hub with curated playlists specifically for the LoL events, develop podcasts, and offer behind-the-scenes coverage of the official anthem of the LoL Worlds championship.

This content creation is seen as immensely helpful for the LoL branding, as music is a powerful storytelling mechanism for esports brands and gaming. The right type of music is essential to entertainment.
