MLS and Fox Sports to Hold FIFA 20 Tournament

Major League Soccer (MLS), which had its 2020 season suspended just three matches into the schedule, will stage a monthlong esports tournament featuring a field of 32 professionals from both the real-life pitch and EA Sports’ FIFA 20 Global Series.

The eMLS Tournament Special will kick off on the 19th of April and air on FS1 and Fox Deportes at 7 pm EDT. The series, which will have five episodes, will then air each subsequent Sunday. The championship will air on the 17th of May.

Coca-Cola and PlayStation have also joined as presenting partners. The tournament is being played to benefit Feeding America and Food Banks Canada, with donations to both made after each broadcast weekend.

The episodes will be contested and broadcast remotely, with competitors playing from their homes. Sixteen MLS teams are represented. Its MLS and eMLS professionals will face their counterparts in two-team tournaments and four-team singles elimination, for a total of five games broadcast each weekend.
